Larry Hagman portrayed an astronaut who discovered a strange bottle. What was inside would change his life. Saturday evening Barbara Eden became Jeannie once again.
“I Dream of Jeannie” was a sitcom that was on American television from 1965 until 1970. Barbara Eden played Jeannie, who was a “genie”. With a blink of her eyes she could create virtually anything. And Larry Hagman was her “master.”
She was portrayed as a mischievous imp, who made Hagman insecure, unsure of what she would do next.
Saturday night Ms. Eden was at the 21st Life Ball, a charity even in Vienna, and she introduced her new “master”.
She invited former President Bill Clinton on stage while wearing a pink chiffon and tiny red velvet bolero. It was very similar to the costume she wore on her television series. The audience applauded when she struck a familiar pose, crossing her arms in front, and blinking her eyes while she nodded her head. Magic did happen, the former President appeared on stage, and the crowd all agreed that the 78 year old actress still looked terrific in her genie’s outfit.
The ball is held to fund anti-Aids efforts. He said anyone could help; those who wish to help don’t “have to be scientists, they do not have to be doctors, they have to be people who care.”
Also attending the ball and giving their support were Carmen Electra, Elton John and Kelly Osbourne.
