After Beyoncé appeared on the walkway at last week’s Met Gala wearing a waist-cinched Givenchy gown that, according to The New York Post, “camouflaged her midsection” and the appearance of a few un-official tour photographs that appeared to show the singer with a “baby bump;” speculation about Beyoncé expecting has taken over the internet. So, is she pregnant?
Added to all this photographic “evidence” is the interview that Beyoncé gave on Good Morning America in January about wanting a brother or sister for 16 month-old Blue Ivy. she also added that she’d like her daughter to have “some company.”
In the interim the self-proclaimed “Most Visited Urban Website In The World,” MediaTakeout.com claims that it has confirmed the pregnancy through a “QUASI-OFFICIAL member of Bey’s team.” The site adds that “Beyoncé has tried to conceal the news by restricting outside photographers’ access during her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour and that she originally planned to announce the arrival of her second child at next month’s BET Awards.”
But MediaTakeout.com is not the “lone voice” in the web. People magazine has also said that, ” a ‘source’ tells People that the baby may not be on the way just yet; and that ‘Beyoncé and Jay are planning for another baby after her tour is over and things calm down just a bit.’
Even the English have added their two pence worth of speculation. Quoting The New York Post and their “multiple sources” the Mail online goes to far as to say the pictures of the singer when she was on stage in London appear to show the 31-year-old with an uncharacteristically rounded tummy. The online paper also goes on to quote another report that claims the singer’s Givenchy gown that she wore to the Met Gala look was actually designed to conceal her growing pregnancy figure.
They Mail also goes on to say that, the pop superstar is in, according to the The New York Post report, quite a lot of photos that have surfaced showing Beyoncé sporting a growing stomach on her 65-date ‘Mrs. Carter Show’ world tour, which touched down in Dublin, Ireland, on yesterday.
Beyoncé’s spokesperson couldn’t be reached for comment by the newspaper, but Beyoncé and Jay-Z – real name Shawn Carter both were very tight-lipped about her first pregnancy until they announced it live at the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2011.
With her father Matthew Knowles just being served with a $1.2 million tax bill and with her world tour continuing as planned, Beyoncé may just be too busy to confirm or deny whether or not the “broody” reports are true. Let alone have enough time to consider if Blue Ivy really needs a younger brother or sister right now.
Beyoncé will be touring until September this year when she’ll finish her world tour in Rio de Janeiro, so until then, rumours will continue to grow, regardless of whether her “baby bump” does or not. What is certain is that Twitter will be kept pretty lively until the singer or her spokesperson answers the question that is sweeping internet.
