Madeleine McCann Scotland Yard Announces New Leads

Scotland Yard Says New Leads

Six years ago the world of Madeleine McCann’s parents turned into a living nightmare when their daughter Madeleine went missing while they had their evening meal in Portugal. Now the missing Madeleine McCann is not forgotten, least of all by Scotland Yard who announced that they have new leads on the case and new suspects.

Scotland Yard have said that they nave identified people that they want to question about the disappearance of Kate and Gerry McCann’s daughter Madeleine McCann, the 3-year-old who went missing in Portugal six years ago.

Detective Chief Superintendent Hamish Campbell, head of Scotland Yard’s Homicide and Serious Crime Command made a statement to the Evening Standard newspaper which said, “There are a lot of people of interest. There are people who could be properly explored further, if only to be eliminated.” Campbell did not specify how many people that they would be questioning.

British police have confirmed that they have identified people of interest but said that they had not asked the Portuguese police to arrest anyone.

Despite reported sightings the world over, the fate of Madeleine McCann remains a mystery.

There have been sightings of Madeleine in Morocco, India, Brazil and other places world wide, the little girl had a uniquely shaped iris in one eye that would make it seem impossible for someone to make a mistake in identifying her, yet despite police artists ageing her photographs she has yet to be found.

Madeleine’s parents were the only real suspects that the Portuguese police investigated deciding early on that they had murdered their oldest child and this reaction traumatised the anguished couple further. While the world press covered their every move and “experts” made guesses on their guilt or innocence, the case grew colder as the Portuguese authorities concentrated on convicting the McCann’s. In 2008 they were cleared of the charges.

Public opinion has always been divided about the actions of Madeleine’s parents. Because they left their three children alone in their hotel room while they ate a meal with friends it caused many to accuse them of poor parenting.

Kate and Gerry McCann have never given up hope and they used the internet as much as possible to alert the world of their missing daughter and to insure that her image was available for anyone to see and possibly spot their missing child. They have been resolute in their determination to not let the public or the world forget about their missing daughter.

Clarence Mitchell, the McCann’s spokesman told the British media that, “Kate and Gerry remain very, very pleased with the work that Scotland Yard are doing and have been encouraged by Operation Grange from the day it began.”

British Prime Minister David Cameron ordered a new investigation by London police after the McCanns wrote to him in 2011 saying neither British nor Portuguese authorities had done enough to try to find their daughter.

It is devoutly hoped that the McCann’s can find their daughter or at the very least, with these new Scotland Yard leads, find out what happened to Madeleine six years ago on a Portuguese night on holiday. At this stage any type of closure would be surely welcomed by this suffering family.
