Miranda Kerr is the latest in a long line of celebrities who will forever be known for their wardrobe malfunctions. Kerr accidentally exposed her breasts during a makeup photo shoot when a gust of wind unexpectedly forced her to bare all.
Kerr, 30, was on a photo shoot in Miami for her makeup line, KORA Organics, when the wind picked up and she dropped her black jumper, her braless breasts bounced out and were exposed to the crew. The pictures immediately surfaced on the Internet, showing a not so modest looking Kerr appearing to take her time covering herself again.
Some media outlets have shown the pictures without even blurring the very risqué photos where Kerr appears unclothed from practically the midriff up. The look on her face appears mischievous and not the least embarrassed, appalled, shy, or aghast.
The latest in the list of celebrity wardrobe malfunctions appears to be blatantly planned and convenient. While it is not possible that Kerr controlled the weather and was able to manufacture the wind for her dastardly deed, it was merely an opportune factor in the plan for some exposure (pun intended) in the media, the intoxicating draw of being talked about, Googled, and written about, all goes hand-in-hand with the draw of celebrity attention.
Wardrobe malfunctions have become such a big deal in our society since the phrase made a debut at Super Bowl XXXVIII during Janet Jackson’s half-time performance. At what would become known as Nipplegate, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) originally fined CBS a whopping $550,000 for Jackson’s offense. That ruling was later appealed and voided by the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in a 2011 ruling.
The phrase wardrobe malfunction has become such a part of our society that it was made our “word of the year” by the American Dialect Society in 2005.
Since then, it seems to have become a goal by every American actress to become infamous for their wardrobe malfunction. Actresses that have otherwise been known to be class acts have succumbed to the intoxication of being talked about for a few minutes for their accidental clothing breakdown: Natalie Portman (2004), Anne Hathaway (2003), Emma Watson (2011), Eva Longoria (2013), Gwyneth Paltrow (2002), Lisa Rinna (2011), Katherine Heigl (2010).
Besides actresses wanting to get their names in the spotlight, others have jumped on the bandwagon, reality television icons like Paris Hilton and drama queen Lindsay Lohan (although she fits into the actress category as well) have been known to “flash” people getting out of cars and claiming the wardrobe malfunction as well.
Everybody wants their 15-minutes of fame.
Kerr has opted not to address the situation on her blog or Twitter feed. Kerr, the former Victoria Secret model is now married to Hollywood star, Orlando Bloom. Bloom and Kerr have one child, 2-year-old son, Flynn.

The more actresses, actors, or anyone else having wardrobe malfunctions the better. The idea that nudity should be against the law is ridiculous. Wearing clothes or not should be a personal choice and basic human right. Laws against nudity are the same as laws requiring full burkas, only the degree is diffierent. It is silly for people to think of nakedness as always related to sex.

Thank you for your comments. I realize that clothing means something in other countries, and that it can be oppressive; however, for many, it can be a celebration of fashion and identity. It is not always about sexuality necessarily; but I get your point.
My point was not that it was about the nudity, it was more about the “15 minutes of fame” aspect… anything to get in the news. Like reality tv (an oxymoron if I have ever heard one, but that is an entirely different subject).
