Every year and for the past 20 years New York city radio station Hot 97 has hosted the annual Summer Jam concert starring some of music’s hottest, that’s past and present hit makers. For many New Yorkers and for Hot 97, this annual concert is the kickoff of summer. This year though Hot 97 celebrated it’s 20th anniversary and in doing so brought out heavy hitters such as Chris Brown, Kendrick Lamar, and hip hop legendary group Wu Tang Clan at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
For those that couldn’t see the show live, fans had the opportunity to watch live via ustream. Along with those who were scheduled to perform, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Lil Kim also all made guest appearances on the main stage.
Throughout the show though, the crowd seemed uninterested and just not live as each artist took to the stage; including during Wu Tang Clan’s performance. The audience just did not seem as electrified as one would have imagined.
The crowd did seem somewhat hyped for Kendrick Lamar’s set. Other artists that hit the stage were 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky and French Montana.
