After the earlier autopsy report came back with an inconclusive verdict on the cause of Cory Monteith’s death, while authorities waited for the toxicology report to come back. It has been announced that the report has come back to confirm that the 31 year-old actor’s death was caused by a mix of heroin and alcohol.

The British Columbia Coroner’s Service announced on Tuesday that the actor died from a toxic mix of the drug heroin and alcohol. The investigation into the cause of his death is still undergoing and further details haven’t been released at this time.

The coroner’s service has said that, “It should be noted that at this point there is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith’s death was anything other than a most-tragic accident.”

The coroner’s office had estimated that the toxicology report would not be in for several days. But according to E! news the tests were done quickly because of the intense public scrutiny in the case of the popular Glee actor.

The “Glee” star’s body was found in his hotel room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel Vancouver, Canada on July 13. Staff went to go check on the actor after he’d failed to meet his checkout time. Paramedics were called but they declared the actor dead on the scene.

Earlier in the day, the police in Vancouver, Canada stated that they felt it was unlikely that Cory Monteith’s death was caused by substance abuse. Law enforcement Officials also said that Monteith’s cause of death is still unclear after yesterday’s post mortem gave no clear cut cause of death.

Vancouver police Sergeant Randy Fincham said, at that time, that there was no evidence to show that the actor’s demise was due to illegal drug abuse. But the news that the toxicology report shows that he had a mix of both heroin and alcohol in his system and that this contributed to his death, will come as a further shock to his many fans.

The entertainment world has been in shock after the news of Monteith’s death was announced. The actors that he worked with on the Fox Network show Glee offered their condolences and his girlfriend in the show and real-life girlfriend is said to be destroyed by the news.

Lea Michele who played Cory’s love interest on the Fox show has not released any statements since Monteith’s death, but her rep asked that the public respect her need for privacy while she deals with her tragic loss.

Hollywood has passed on their condolences as well as surprise and shock that Montieth has died so unexpectedly and his friends from the show are all grieving.

Monteith has had a long running battle with his self confessed drug addiction and his girlfriend Lea knew about his substance abuse problems fully supporting his trips to rehab and his personal struggle with the problem. .

Monteith had always been very open about his battle with drugs and never hid the fact that he had substance abuse issues.

Cory Monteith was born in Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and he moved to Vancouver Island when he was a youngster. He, like many other actors worked at a variety of jobs before he reached success as an actor. He was a WalMart greeter, a school bus driver, a roofer and a cab driver before he started working as an actor.

The Glee actor had only just gotten out of drug rehab in April this year when he and Lea went to Mexico to celebrate his sobriety.

It will be especially devastating for his 26 year-old actress girlfriend as she is already struggling with the news of his death. The toxicology report that shows he died from a heroin and alcohol mix will no doubt upset her even more.
