As a child actor, Amanda Bynes showed great promise for being a star. But is schizophrenia to blame for the actresses’ spiraling downfall?
Thursday, a Ventura Judge ordered Amanda to spend an additional 14 days in psychiatric hold (5051). The determination is that 27-year old Bynes is still a danger to society, but mostly to herself.
On Monday, the starlet was brought in to a psychiatric facility for a 72-hour assessment. Apparently, the judge felt more tests were necessary in determining her mental condition.
Just as what happened in 2008 with Britney Spears, whose parents gained a conservatorship to their daughter and her finances, Rick and Lynne Byrnes headed to court on Friday. The judge denied their request for the 5051 hold until he can speak to Amanda’s doctors and attorneys regarding her assessment. However, mother Lynne has been granted temporary control over her daughter’s estate until the end of September.
Amanda began her acting career at the age of seven. In 1999, her rise to fame began when Nickelodeon starred her in the Amanda Bynes Show. 2012 is when Bynes’ career, figuratively speaking, slammed into a brick wall the day she was arrested on DUI charges. And for the past year, Bynes has been sharing her spiraling, schizophrenic downfall with the world.
Schizophrenia is a mental disease normally appearing in early adulthood, but can happen to a person at anytime. The brain disorder causes delusions, psychosis and bizarre behavior just to name a few symptoms many of which the starlet is portraying.
On Twitter, Amanda tweeted about having difficulty staying thin because of an eating disorder. After being arrested April 2012 for DUI, the girl also tweeted President Obama texting that she did not drink and to fire the cops that arrested her.
In May 2012, police were called to the hotel where she was staying. Hotel staff members reported a strong smell of marijuana coming from her room. When the police arrived, Amanda tossed a large-sized bong out her 36-story window. Again, she was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, tampering with evidence and reckless endangerment.
Being charged with a felony, she retaliated by attempting to sue the NYPD for sexual harassment in the arrest incident. Due to lack of evidence, all charges were dropped.
Amanda again drew attention while wearing a neon-colored blue, longhaired wig to the felony proceedings. Who is this girl? Certainly not the Nickelodeon star fans grew to love.
This week Amanda was apprehended after starting a fire in the driveway of a home located in her parent’s neighborhood. After accidentally drenching her Pomeranian with gasoline used in the incident, video cameras show Bynes rushing into a liquor store to wash the flammable liquid off her pooch. Instead of an arrest, Bynes was put in 5051 lockdown for her own protection and the protection of others.
A big supporter of Amanda Bynes is reality star Kim Kardashian. On her mother’s chat show, Kris Jenner told the audience that Kim has this obsession with the fallen starlet and is hopeful that this treatment will get Amanda well and back on track.
Schizophrenia is a disabling condition and its spiraling effect may possibly be the cause in Amanda Byne’s dramatic change over the past several years.

Are you high Lisa? There was no proof of her throwing out a bong. She wasn’t put into a “5051” this week, she was sent to 5150 was last month. The police went to her apartment this May, not in 2012. And your ‘sources’ contradict what your article says. Besides, everything else you just reported is old news. I think you’re the one who has schizophrenia, not poor, innocent Amanda Bynes. You just need to stop writing about her – no, stop writing articles in general. And you should be sued for defamation.
I’d like to know where you are getting this information? TMZ? None of the things reported and sensationalized in the media exhibited schizophrenia! Any indication that there was a mental problem would only have been seen by people who were allowed around her to witness her behavior over a long period of time. (Evident by the fact she had a short psychiatric evaluation in may and was released afterwards…she is in custody getting help now because they were able to monitor her for a longer period of time.) The media has no clue what her mental status is…they are only releasing rumors and speculation! When the supposed videos of her acting crazy were released it always involves some obnoxious pap or pedestrian bothering her and doing things to make her react in a way that would be concidered unusual (especially after editing) so they can profit from the footage. Her twitter postings were odd but that is not enough to support a claim that she is schizo! Only those close to her know her true medical condition along with MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS! (Had to type that in caps because the reporters in the media are not medical professionals and they don’t have access to her medical information) It shouldn’t even have to be said that the “celebrities” and her “ex-friends” all claiming to have insight though simultaneously stating they haven’t spoken to her or been around her in long periods of time (months to years) are not able to provide any real facts and their opinions are worthless….they know nothing! It isn’t proof of anything! Stop making stuff up!

she’s not schizophrenic , people manipulated her , she didn’t want to do nude scenes , so she quit and they are trying to drive her crazy , she is smart to have retired , why shame herself on film , so now to get even they would try and ruin her reputation so no one would believe what she says , I’m on Her side 100%
the whole article is full of inaccuracies. she was hospitalized in late july (23rd i think). not “last week”. it seems to be an old article that was post dated for pageviews since she is trending on twitter. lazy and stupid writing.
It was a good read. It was sensitive to the needs of a sick girl.
I could not get through the first couple of paragraphs; the writing is terrible. Was the author of this article drunk?
