Katy Perry’s first track from her new album Prism was leaked a day early by hackers. Perry responded by releasing the song officially before the August 12 premiere. The song was leaked on the internet Saturday morning. Lady Gaga’s single, Applause also suffered from hacker leakage, but only a snippet of that made its way onto the net. But neither singer was too pleased at the news that their songs were leaked. You can listen to Katy Perry’s Roar below.
Lady Gaga got onto to her Twitter account and tweeted to her little monsters: “Lord, in HEAVEN WHY, YOU JUST COULDN’T WAIT THIS IS TOO MUCH FOR ONE SATURDAY.
She fired off a salvo of tweets and even sent one to fellow hacked singer Katy Perry. The tweet said: “Wanna grab some shovels and f**k up some hackers? @katyperry excited to hear you ROAR, sorry to hear about your truck!”
Perry responded with: “@ladygaga what a WILD weekend so far. Claws out, paws up! Looking forward to putting my hands up & making them touch too!” Katy did take that particular tweet down later. Perhaps she didn’t want to appear a “snarky” as Lady Gaga about the songs being leaked.
Her tweet though, unlike Mommy Monster’s, didn’t seem too distraught or angry at the hacker’s work. She, as usual, accented the positive side, which seems to be a Perry speciality.
The tweet that she took down was after her earlier Twitter announcement to fans about the decision to officially release the song early to radio stations, including Clear Channel and iHeartRadio (who has made the clip below available for our listening pleasure) which will be airing the song hourly. Katy tweeted:
The song has a positive feel to it and it is one that you’ll find yourself getting hooked on from the very first time you hear it. It’s a great track from what is promising to be an even greater album.
Prism, is Katy Perry’s fourth studio album and it is the first since her 2010 album Teenage Dream. Prism will be out on October 22nd. The 28 year-old singer has been traveling across the US in a gold 18 wheeler semi with the album’s title on the side of the trailer along with the release date.
On Friday, TMZ reported that the Prism truck was run into at a Pennsylvania Walmart parking lot. The driver was uninjured and Perry tweeted: “The #Prism semi is bumped & bruised but she is a champion! She will return…”
But the leak of Perry’s latest song on the net doesn’t appear to have upset her as much as it did Mommy Monster, Lady Gaga. As well as her shovel tweet to Perry, she tweeted her displeasure quite a few times on the microblogging site.
Unlike Katy Perry, Lady Gaga hasn’t rolled with that particular punch and Perry’s decision to release Roar after the songs internet leak shows just how flexible she can be. Perhaps Lady Gaga was too busy working on her “a”note in the nude to do something similar.
