Jennifer Lawrence has already filmed a cameo for the new Dumb and Dumber To, aka Dumb and Dumber 2, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 23 year-old Academy Award winning actress will play the part of a younger Kathleen Turner -a character named Fraida Feltcher – in the film. Dumb and Dumber To is the sequel to the 1994 film Dumb and Dumber.
Jennifer has said that the original film was one of her favorites. It seems that the cameo came about when Lawrence stopped by the Atlanta, Georgia filming location. The set was very near the Hunger Games: Mockingjay shoot. Jennifer’s visit lasted all day and apparently she filmed her cameo on the day.
The Farrelly Brothers sequel, like the original, stars Jim Carrey and recent Emmy winner Jeff Daniels as the two mentally challenged protagonists. The long awaited sequel also stars, Turner, Rachel Melvin, Steve Tom and Laurie Holden as well as Rob Riggle.
The film will premiere in 2014.
The Oscar winning actress will be seen in the next Hunger Games film, Catching Fire in November this year. She is also working on the David O’Russell film American Hustle, X-Men: Days of Future Past, which are both in post production, as well as the third installment of the Hunger Games.
Out of the projects that Jennifer is associated with, it looks like she may be the most excited about the Dumb and Dumber project. Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on his Late Night show in January this year, she claimed to know every word of dialogue from the original 1994 film. She also made the same claim about the films Step Brothers and Anchorman. She went on to pass a test set up by Fallon to see if she could really recite a particular line from the film. Lawrence proved that she was a diehard fan of the Farrelly Brothers classic by passing the test.
From the set of Dumb and Dumber To, Jeff Daniels tweeted a picture of him and his co-star Jim Carrey on September 24:
The two actors are sporting their original haircuts from the 1994 film. Carrey with his “bowl” haircut and Daniels with his frazzled blond locks. The tweeted picture was retweeted over 71,000 times and was favorited over 28,000 times.
The sequel to the Farrelly Brothers hit comedy takes up the journey of Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels characters – Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne – undertake a road trip to search for Harry’s daughter. Laurie Holden will be reprising her role, along with Daniels and Carrey, as Adele Pitchlow.
Jennifer Lawrence will no doubt be excited to see how her cameo turns out. Her casting as a young Kathleen Turner is inspired. Lawrence has similar facial features to the younger Turner as she appeared in Romancing the Stone. While Kathleen does have a sexy sophistication that Lawrence has yet to acquire, the two actresses share a similar sense of humor and down to earth approach that compliments their attractiveness.
It would be quite an accomplishment if Jennifer Lawrence could now get cameos in more of her favorite comedy films, if they were remade. That would be a real hat-trick for the popular actress, although it may be some time before Step Brothers and Anchorman are remade. In the meantime, she has more than enough to keep her busy while she waits to see how her cameo turned out.
So just when you thought Jennifer Lawrence could not possibly squeeze another film appearance into her full schedule, she plays a younger Kathleen Turner in one of her comedy favorites. Looks like there can never be too much of Jennifer.
