With IFA 2013 mere days away and Apple expected to announce the next generation of the iPad mini later this month, LG jumps ahead of the pack and announces its latest tablet, the G Pad 8.3.
The announcement comes as a slight surprise since LG hasn’t released a tablet since the G-Slate in 2011. At 8.3 inches, LG is looking to compete with the iPad mini by featuring a 1900 x 1200 HD display, addressing a major complaint with the iPad mini’s design. The G Pad 8.3 also has top of the line specifications with a 1.7 GHz Quad Core processor and 2 GB ram.
LG is also looking to further stand out from the crowded Android market by offering the ability to pair the tablet with an android phone, allowing the user to place calls and send text messages from the G Pad 8.3.
Release date and pricing have not been announced yet, but the G Pad 8.3 is expected to be available in major markets in the fourth quarter.
