He may only be a rookie, but New England Patriots cornerback Logan Ryan has quickly become the first man in the NFL to do something, he has been fined $10,000 for grabbing his own crotch.
As you can see above, the junk fondling was part of a celebration after he returned a Geno Smith interception back for a touchdown in the Patriot’s loss last Sunday.
Although the NFL usually doesn’t formally announce the amounts or reasons for fines until Friday, Ryan revealed the news to the world on Thursday. The rookie also apologized to fans for his actions. Logan Ryan stated that his actions were “not acceptable” and insisted that “it won’t happen again” because “that’s not who I am.”
When it comes to how the typically quiet Patriots locker room felt on the incident, special team’s captain Matthew Slater weighed in on how the team plans on handling the matter. “I don’t want to get into too much detail talking about that, but there are certain things that come over the season that we have to handle in-house, and I think that’s one of those things,” he said. “He’s a great kid, and he’s been nothing but respectful since he’s gotten here. That’s something we just have to handle in-house.”
A dumb celebration that resulted in Ryan being fined, the rookie will quickly learn to let his play speak for itself in New England. If he can continue to make plays like the 79 yard interception return touchdown against the Jets, Logan Ryan will have plenty of opportunities to atone for his crotch grabbing slip up.
