On Wednesday, the Syrian electricity minister, Emad Khamis, addressed a blackout which occurred in the country. Khamis blamed the power outage on attacks from rebel forces, alleging that they damaged a gas pipline. He also added that actions were being taken to get the power system back up and running again.
RT reports that power is also out in the capital city of Damascus.
