A 19 year old Spring Hill man has been charged for the murder of a Korean woman. He is due in the Magistrate’s Court in Brisbane on Tuesday for the crime.
On Sunday November 24, 22 year old Eunji Ban was going to her cleaning job. She had only been in Australia for six weeks as part of a youth exchange program. Her body was found in Brisbane’s CBD parklands. There is no evidence of sexual assault and cause of death is still being confirmed.
Ban’s parents will arrive from Korea. It is devastating for the family.
Ban was found by a member of the public just 20 minutes after leaving her home for work. The news of the murder is shocking, especially considering that Brisbane is usually safe. However, the area she was walking through is known as a hangout for the homeless during the night.
Police are still looking for witnesses to come forward to help secure the murder charge for the Spring Hill man, who has not yet been named. They also stress that women need to look out for themselves while walking home, especially at night.
