It is official, Bungie has confirmed that their newest game Destiny will be released on September 9, 2014. The announcement of the date means that Bungie has delayed the game slightly but more importantly it means that there is currently a firm release date for the title.
September of 2014 may seem like a long time from now but that does not mean the wait will be entirely painful. Bungie also stated that the beta for Destiny will become available in the summer. If you pre-ordered Destiny before the 1st of October then your receipt should have come with a nine-digit code to get you into the beta once it becomes open. The beta is set to open up on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 before other systems.
Thanks to the Spike Video Game Awards (VGX) fans now have a new trailer to feast upon. You can find the video below. The trailer is loaded with gameplay and certainly still looks outstanding. Fans of Bungie as well as Bungie itself are anxiously awaiting the release of Destiny although the game is still far from finished.
The dedication from the fans has certainly touched the makers over at Bungie.”The early support and enthusiasm for Destiny has been inspiring and humbling,” said DeeJ, the community manager at Bungie. He also posted on the game’s official website saying, “we promised to redefine what players should expect from a Bungie game. We said we wanted to change the way people play games together. We set our bar high. For us, Destiny represents a once in a lifetime opportunity. Since then, Destiny has continued to reveal its promise. Every new build brings us closer to our original vision. With those goals in sight, we intend to use every moment from now until the release of the game to ensure that Destiny lives up to your expectations, and our own.”
Bungie has done a lot in the past with the Halo series but now they are fully committed to having a game good enough for everybody, not just their hard-core fans. The idea is big and ambitions. Destiny attempts to be a first-person shooter that changes how we play games with our friends, changes what we expect from shooters, and changes the formula they’ve stuck to in the past. They are taking the best of the past and the best new ideas to create something tons of people are very excited about.
It is possible that Bungie will have to delay Destiny before it comes out but they knowingly do not want that. If Destiny has any sort of massive problems that will ruin the gaming experience then Bungie will delay the title to make sure it releases as an excellent piece of video game art that people will be happy to enjoy.
Be sure to have those calendars marked, the current release date for Destiny is September 9, 2014. The beta is said to open in the summer. Bungie will no doubt continue to post new trailers and screens so stay tuned.
