Samsung Group Releases Latest in Galaxy: Launches S5 and Wearables

In a press conference held at Mobile World Congress Barcelona, Samsung Group revealed its latest technology Smart phone Galaxy S5 and added Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Fit Wearables to its range of Smart watches. Samsung plans to launch these products in mid of April 2014.

Setting the expectations prior to the release of its flagship phone, S5, the company said this time the aim was to improve everyday experience of its consumers and the enhancements were especially designed based on customer feedback. And the result of this feedback is that Galaxy S5 is now water and dust resistant.

As a design update the back of the phone has been changed to a new perforated finish to provide better grip. The battery life of the phone has been extensively improved now and it can last up to 24 hours on standby mode.

Galaxy S5 runs on Kitkat Android 4.4 with a 2.5 GHz quad-core processor and comes with a 5.1 inch screen 1920 X 1080 super AMOLED display. The handset has 2GB of RAM and storage space of 16 or 32 GB. S5’s camera section got a major update. The phone comes with 16MP rear-facing camera with a dual-LED flash and has the ability to shoot 4K video. Elevating the camera experience, the phone comes with a superior auto focus feature and the company claims it to be fastest ever in the market.

As a security feature Samsung added finger print scanner for unlocking the phone, accessing personal files including photos and password protection for secure mobile payments. Now that doesn’t come as a surprise. The Galaxy S5 also supports latest mobile wallets like Google Wallets.

The Samsung group gave a lot of emphasis on health by also releasing fitness apps like S Health in its latest suite of Galaxy products. During the launch Company said, With S Health consumers can track their physical activity, monitor eating habits and they can be up to date on their health information on their S5 and wearable’s. They can also monitor their heart-rate with the built-in heart-rate monitor, one of its kind feature available on a smart phone.

Samsung also added Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit to its smart watch collection. These smart watches are very sleek and curvy as compared to its 6 month old pioneers.

Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo just look stunning with their thin curvy design. Gear 2 comes with metal finish whereas Neo has polycarbonate exterior. They both have 1.8 inch 432×128 resolution screen with Super AMOLED display and a 4GB memory. Unlike its previous version Gear 2 has its 2 megapixel camera right on its face rather than the strap for a more convenience and ease. Neo doesn’t come with a camera. The wearable’s can be paired with 17 Galaxy devises and lets you receive calls, messages, emails or app notifications on your wrist when paired with your smart phone.

As the name goes Gear Fit is for fitness savvy consumers and is loaded with multiple fitness plans. It is equipped with a heart rate sensor and can track your footsteps. Like the rest of the Wearable’s Fit too comes with Super AMOLED display and 1.8 inch screen and gives notifications about your calls, messages and emails.

Wearables are available in multiple colors. Gear 2 is available in Black strap and Titan Silver face, Wild Orange strap and Titan Silver face and a Brown strap and Gold Brown face. Gear 2 Neo in Black, Wild Orange and Mocha Gray. Gear Fit in Black, Wild Orange and Mocha Grey bands color options.

The launch of Galaxy Products S5 and Wearable’s came after some down fall was observed in Samsung group’s market share of high-end smart phones in the fourth quarter of 2013 as per the report released by Gartner.
