A 6.9 Earthquake has just been reported 48 miles West North West of Ferndale. Ferndale is based in Humboldt County and is a small town located near the famous California redwoods forest. There have also been aftershocks reported, but no damage.
Typical reports of earthquakes have more often been based in bigger cities, with the last history-making earthquake taking place in Northridge in 1994. The Northridge earthquake was a 6.7, but up to 72 were killed. It is not likely that the Ferndale area earthquake will have made as great of an impact as the Northridge quake, but reports have yet to be released.

There was a 4.7 earthquake between Sedona and Flagstaff, AZ close to the same time.
Doesn’t look as bad as the one in 91? 92? Houses in Ferndale fell off of foundations then.
Hope my family is alright. Our little town of Ferndale sure has had its share of earthquakes. Love and Prayers to all.Mari Morris
Photo not taken in Ferndale, CA. All is good here. Very nominal damage, if any. Just a LONG slow steady shake.
