Mick Jagger Girlfriend Found Dead From Suspected Suicide

JaggerL’Wren Scott, a fashion designer, model and Mick Jagger’s girlfriend, was found dead in her apartment in Manhattan, New York, Monday morning. She was 49 years old. The police suspects Scott committed suicide, as she was hanging from a doorknob, wearing a scarf.

The famous fashion designer’s body was discovered at 10 a.m., after her assistant let herself in the apartment at the request of Scott, who had texted her to come over at 8:30 a.m. Scott’s assistant immediately called 911, but police and paramedics confirmed at the scene that Scott could not be revived.

Sources have said that Scott’s long-time boyfriend Jagger, who was on tour in Australia with The Rolling Stones at the time of the death, is devastated and completely shocked by her death. Questions have arisen, as no written note was found in Scott’s apartment. Jagger and Scott had dated for 13 years, significantly longer than his previous relationships with Bianca Jagger and Jerry Hall.

While the police suspects that Mick Jagger’s girlfriend committed suicide and no foul play occurred, her body has been transferred to the medical examiner for a final autopsy. In the meantime, Scott’s relatives and friends are wondering what could have caused the successful fashion designer to end her life.

Scott was born Luann Bambrough, and was adopted by a Mormon family in Roy, Utah. In her younger years, she enjoyed being the tallest and prettiest girl in her class, and when she was discovered by fashion photographer Bruce Weber, her career became almost surreal. Scott walked the catwalk in Paris and posed for luxury brands, including Chanel and Thierry Mugler. In the early 90s, she decided to move to California to become a fashion stylist for celebrities, allowing her to continue her glamorous life from a different angle.

In 2006, Jagger’s girlfriend launched her own fashion brand. She was proud to dress celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Reese Witherspoon, who wore her designs to several award shows.

Simon Doonan, former artistic director at Barney’s, says, “We are all so devastated by this news. She was part of the Barney’s family and we were very close friends for a long time. Scott was glamorous, unique, very intelligent and very funny.” Doonan states he met Scott in the early 90s and saw her for the last time a couple of months ago.

Scott’s apartment block, located in Chelsea, Manhattan, is also home to celebrities Nicole Kidman and Domenico Dolce, co-founder of the Dolce & Gabbana fashion house. Her close friend Madonna said, “L’Wren was always so generous to me and her work was stunning. I am very upset and her death is a tragic loss to many.”

Although Scott had a great passion for her work in fashion, she unexpectedly canceled her show at London Fashion Week last month. Jagger’s girlfriend did not officially give a reason, but rumors said it was due to a production delay. With the death of Jagger’s girlfriend due to a suspected suicide by the police, many are questioning if there were any underlying reasons for Scott’s cancellation.
