Oprah Winfrey is expanding her business by giving fans a taste of a new tea and a new book. Winfrey’s book is a compilation of essays for her column for the magazine, O, The Oprah Winfrey Magazine. The book will have the same title of the column, which is What I Know For Sure. The title came from an interview with Gene Siskel, a film critic, who asked her what she knows for sure. Flatiron Books, a nonfiction publishing company that is under Macmillian Books, will publish What I Know for Sure. Winfrey’s book will be the first one published by the company and will be released on Sept. 2.
Flatiron Books said that What I Know For Sure will be organized into themes such as possibility, joy and gratitude. A press release about the book reported that it will offer fans a powerful, intimate and rare view into Oprah’s inside life: her dreams, thoughts and struggles while also providing readers a guide to being the best version of themselves. Aside from Winfrey’s book, she will also be giving fans a taste of her new tea.
Starbucks has teamed up with Winfrey to announce a chai tea named after her. Beginning on April 29, people can order a Teavana Oprah Chai Tea at any Teavana or Starbucks store in Canada and the United States. Starbucks will donate to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation for each tea that is sold. Winfrey created the tea with Naoko Tsunoda, the leading teaologist for Teavana. Her tea is a unique blend that includes infusions of cardamom, ginger, cinnamon and cloves that are all blended with rooibis and loose leaf black tea.
Winfrey said the she loves tea and that her daily tea ritual is an important part of her morning. She continues by saying that spicy and savory tea, with its deep flavor, has been her favorite. Winfrey says that when Howard Schultz asked her to come into the Starbucks tasting room to create her own tea blend she thought it sounded like a very unique opportunity and was fun to the tenth power. She also said that being able to share one of her favorite things with everyone and also support the education of youth is really the perfect blend.
Schultz, the president, chairman and CEO of Starbucks, said that with the introduction of the Teavana Oprah Chai Tea, the company is going to raise the experience of tea the same way they did for coffee. He also said that by being partners with Oprah Winfrey in creating the different and terrific tea they are taking the next step towards getting this objective accomplished while giving back in a way that is meaningful to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation.
Winfrey is letting fans take a look into her inner life by announcing that she is writing a new book titled What I Know For Sure. The book will be a compilation of the essays she wrote for her column What I Know For Sure. These essays will show fans what her life is like by reading about her thoughts and struggles. She is also giving fans a taste of tea by announcing the partnership with Starbucks to create her own blend of chai tea. People can begin buying the tea at Starbucks and Teavana on April 29. Schultz said he is humbled to work alongside a very inspirational leader as well as a visionary that has the same beliefs and values as he does. He says he believes that with the help of Oprah, the company will be able to set the bar for a superior tea experience at Teavana and Starbucks.
