Leonardo DiCaprio has risen as a star with his role of Jack Dawson in the movie Titanic, although he also impressed us in many other blockbusters. 39-year-old actor is involved in the world of film from an early age. He was initially considered merely as a beautiful teenager who attracts views of shy girls, so he was not taken too seriously. However, with his exceptional talent he soon proved that he can play even the most challenging roles. DiCaprio became the darling of the audience and breaker of women’s hearts.

Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio was born on November 11, 1974 in Los Angeles, California. His mother Irmelin Indenbirken, a native German woman, and father George, an American with German and Italian roots, met while studying in New York and then moved to Los Angeles. He was named after the famous genius Leonardo da Vinci. During pregnancy, his mother felt his kicking for the first time at the moment when she stood before the image of the world-renowned artist and decision has been made. Irmelin, a secretary by profession, and George, who draw comics for living, had a lot of financial problems. They divorced before Leonardo’s first birthday. He was then raised by his mother, but he remained in good relationship with his father. He liked to imitate different personalities and characters and his parents always encouraged his creativity.

As a child, he appeared in many commercials and starred in the television show Romper Room. In the teenage years, Leonardo played in a variety of series, including the humorous series Roseanne and even in the popular marathon series Santa Barbara. DiCaprio impressed critics when he played the role of Tobias Wolff in the biographical drama This Boy’s Life. After that, Leonardo DiCaprio’s acting career began to rise and he was becoming a star. In the drama What’s Eating Gilbert Grape he played a mentally retarded Arnie and this role brought him an Oscar nomination. This movie was followed by biographical crime drama The Basketball Diaries, where he played the main role. In a modern version of Shakespeare’s tragedy Romeo + Juliet, Leonardo starred together with Claire Danes, but the film did not reach expectations.

Leonardo DiCaprioUndoubtedly, he experienced his greatest success in 1997 with movie Titanic in which the then 23-year-old Leonardo convincingly played the role of Jack Dawson and further grew in the eyes of the public and critics. DiCaprio has also impressed the audience in a historical drama Catch Me If You Can, crime drama Gangs of New York, romance drama The Great Gatsby and in thrillers Blood Diamond and Shutter Island. In the last movie, a criminal biographical comedy The Wolf of Wall Street, which received five Oscar nominations, the actor once again surpassed himself.

Leonardo DiCaprio is a constant in the tabloids all over the world, not only because of his work, but also because of his turbulent love life. DiCaprio is known for romantic relationships and affairs with a number of top models, among which are mostly Victoria’s Secret models. His longest relationship so far, has been with six years younger supermodel Gisele Bündchen. They were together since 2000, then broke up, fell in love again and finally parted ways in 2005. He was dating the Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli for four years and at first it seemed that she will one day become his wife, but then they broke up in 2009. After that, DiCaprio was with Blake Lively for several months and then with supermodel Erin Heatherton. He is currently in a relationship with a model Toni Garrn.

Leonardo was nominated for Oscar four times. In 1994 for the role in the movie What’s Eating Gilbert Grape(best supporting actor), in 2004 for The Aviator (best leading actor), in 2007 for Blood Diamond (best leading role) and in 2014 for The Wolf of Wall Street (best leading actor). Despite the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio has not won an Oscar so far, he is definitely a star which suddenly rose to the top and remains there from year to year.
