Selena Gomez must really have something worth breaking the law for, as this is the second incident of trespassing on her property in less than a week. Just a few days after a home invader was arrested and put behind bars, another one came to accomplish what the first one had failed to do. He was arrested on Friday for attempting to trespass on and break into Gomez’s residence in Calabasas.
Gomez is an American singer and actress who is famous for her many hit singles and countless television appearances. While her charisma has attracted millions of fans worldwide, she seems to be attracting a whole different kind of audience recently.
On March 30, a homeless man was found in Gomez’s guest bathroom. He was charged with trespassing and sentenced to 45 days in jail. The homeless man was identified as 20-year-old Che Cruz. This back-to-back occurrence might sound odd but there is more to the story. Surprisingly, this is the third unwanted guest Gomez has had to face on her property this year. The very first incident occurred in February when a man was convicted for trespassing in her previous house and sentenced to 120 days in jail. Fans reading the news of a man being arrested for trespassing at Gomez’s Calabasas home will most definitely find themselves wondering, “the same thing, again?”
Gomez had recently moved into the new house after two trespassing incidents, might be rethinking moving in. The sheriff’s official said that the man attempted to enter the home by jumping over the fence. Police showed up at the scene when eyewitnesses reported a possible burglary in progress. The man, shabbily dressed, wore a green hoodie and stained sweatpants.
The man was not immediately identified but was later seen handcuffed and in police custody. While all these men had the same intention in mind, it was Cruz who actually went as far to as to enter the performer’s house.
Cruz admitted to trespassing in an initial court appearance on Monday and was charged with one count of misdemeanor trespassing. Sgt Fray Lupian of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Cruz knocked on the front door of Gomez’s house, but instead of Selena, a friend answered. Her friend quickly slammed the door after Cruz asked for the singer.
Cruz then entered the house through a back entrance and hid in the guest bathroom. Gomez was at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards on Saturday and it was not until Sunday night when Gomez started hearing noises on her property that she called security.
Security acted immediately and held Cruz until the deputies arrived. Jail records indicate that Cruz attempted to trespass just hours after he was released from jail. He had apparently served seven days in jail for yet another trespassing case.
It is not quite clear what Gomez has to say about these events or how she plans to avoid any future such incidents from occurring. Focusing on security surely is a priority for Gomez at the moment. They say the third time’s the charm, after all.
