Miley Cyrus has come up against an unfortunate road block, and despite her go-go-go schedule, she has been instructed to get some rest and take care of herself. The 21-year-old’s representatives have reported the performer fell victim to an unexpected and harsh allergic reaction.”Cyrus has been hospitalized for a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics and has been placed on medical rest by her doctors,” the statement said. “She will not be able to perform as scheduled.”
Her Bangerz tour unfortunately had to take a pause as well, while the main draw, Little Miss Cyrus, was hospitalized without a release date, in order for the girl to take care of her health. The Tuesday night, April 15, show at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri, has been cancelled, and as of now there are no reports of other cancelled dates. Subsequent shows this week include St. Louis on Wednesday, Nashville on Friday, and Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday. Anyone who has bought a ticket to a cancelled show, therefore unable to witness the entertainer and her crazy on stage antics first-hand, will receive a full refund.
The Bangerz crew apparently started work transforming the Kansas City venue as early as 5 a.m. this morning, and despite posts from Cyrus’ twitter account that she was suffering from a cough and a fever, many believed the show would go on. Word of the cancellation spread pretty quickly through social media, but many fans from far away arrived early at the center, and were very disappointed. News of the cancellation did trend via Facebook and Twitter, but the eager fans were unwilling to believe the bad news.
The twitter-happy performer was not, however, too ill to tweet and post photos from her hospital bed. It seems Cyrus has gotten comfortable and cozy while on medical rest and is heeding doctor’s orders to stay put. Her photos reveal a rather uncharacteristically modest hospital gown and presumably washed and un-styled hair. It is not too often the media sees a dressed-down Miley Cyrus, but despite her unfortunate bed rest, she appears to be in good, playful spirits.
Upright in her hospital bed, the resting show-stopper gave a shout out to all of Kansas earlier this afternoon. She says she is just as heart-broken as they are for missing the show, and not being able to perform made her feel worse than she already did. She assured her fans that she was getting all the necessary care and attention she needed from “some amazing Drs” and “Mr. Octopussy.” “Mr. Octopussy” appears to be the dangling green toy who appears in Miley’s hospital gown selfie.
Reports of what the antibiotics that caused the reaction were prescribed for are yet unknown. The crowd-pleasing former Disney star needed to cancel her show in Charlotte, North Carolina a bit more than a week ago, only thirty minutes before start time, because she had stated she was in “excruciating pain.” It was reported later that the performer had the flu. Charlotte was the only cancelled venue at that time. It is presumable that the entertainer had not yet recovered from her previous bout with illness. Doctors have order Cyrus to put a pause to her shows, at least for a night, take care of herself, and get some much-needed rest.
