Christina Aguilera Gives Rousing Performance at New Orleans Jazz Festival
Christina Aguilera didn’t let her pregnancy stop her from giving an incredible, rousing performance at the New Orleans Jazz Festival that had the audience cheering and clapping for more. On Friday, Aguilera’s form-fitting black dress showed off her baby bump, as she rocked the audience with covers of hits by Led Zeppelin, Pastti LaBelle, James Brown, B.B. King, Maroon 5, and Etta James, among others. Besides her black dress, Aguilera wore a white cardigan and had on fishnet stockings and a black fedora on her head.

The Voice judge performed for over an hour, and began her set with “Be My Husband,” by Nina Simone. Christina Aguilera’s second baby, according to reports in E!News and other sources, will be a girl, as well as being her first baby with fiance Matthew Rutler. Aguilera’s first baby was her six-year-old son Max, who she had with her ex-husband, Jordan Bratman. Christina first met film producer Matthew Rutler when she was acting in the 2010 movie Burlesque. No due date for the arrival of their daughter has yet been released by the couple.  Christina Aguilera Gives Rousing Performance at New Orleans Jazz Festival

Christina Aguilera performed songs from several genres, such as blues, jazz, and soul, during her set. She sang “Lady Marmalade” by Patti LaBelle, which she helped remake into a hit with her performance of the song in the movie Moulin Rouge, “Candyman,” “What a Girl Wants,” “Dirrty,” “Beautiful,” “Moves Like Jagger” by Maroon 5, Etta James’ “At Last,” James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s World,” “Whole Lotta Love” by Led Zeppelin, and “The Thrill is Gone,” by B.B. King, concluding her set with her girl power anthem, “Fighter.”

Another treat for Christina Aguilera’s fans was when special guest Ian Axel of A Great Big World joined her in singing “Say Something.” The most “special guest” of all, of course, was Aguilera’s unborn baby.

Christina Aguilera announced something that’s already been reported about here and in many other sources, that she won’t be returning for season 7 of The Voice, due to her pregnancy. She will, however, be back for season 8. Aguilera gave her blessings to Gwen Stefani, who will be filling her chair for the seventh season of The Voice, joining another new judge, Pharrell.

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival wasn’t the first place where Christina Aguilera has performed while pregnant with her daughter. Before her set, she announced via email that her baby girl “already hit the stage in Malaysia.” She also wrote that having her baby “listening to the concert from inside me,” would be “pretty special.”

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival has always been known for attracting some of the most amazing performers of jazz, soul, and the blues in the world, and this year’s festival was no exception. Joining Christina Aguilera at the festival were performers such as the rock group Alabama Shakes, Chaka Khan, the Hot 8 Brass Band, Amanda Shaw, and the Charmaine Neville Band.

By her energetic performance, it appeared as if pregnancy hasn’t slowed Christina Aguilera down very much. Spectators described her singing voice to be as strong as ever. While Christina Aguilera won’t be appearing in season seven of The Voice, she still seems to be a long way from giving up performing before the arrival of her baby girl.
