A North Carolina church leader and well respected man in the community has been arrested for multiple sex crimes involving a child. Joseph Robert Hall was arrested at his Gastonia home located at 2402 Pamela Street on Wednesday evening on 14 different sex charges involving a child. This 62-year-old man is being held on $1 million bond.
Hall is a member of the Pastoral Staff at Restoring Hope Foursquare Church located in Dallas, North Carolina. He is currently serving as the ministry leader of a men’s group called Men of Valor. This leader’s profile on the church website reads:
The ministry has been a very important part of Joe’s life. The calling began in May of 1984. Over the past 26 years, God’s blessings allowed for two churches to be planted on the east coast of North Carolina and numerous souls lead to the Kingdom of God. God has blessed Joe with a beautiful and God fearing wife and together they are looking forward to the next chapter in their lives as Pastors. As to date, Joe is honored to serve as the Men of Valor Leader, Hospital and Home Visitation, Council Member, and a member of the Pastoral Staff for the Restoring Hope Foursquare Church.
The charges stem from alleged incidents involving a 12-year-old girl in Brunswick County on the coast of North Carolina. Hall’s accuser says these incidents occurred over a four year span beginning July 1994 and continued until July 1998. At that time Hall would have been 43-years-old.
Hall has been charged with multiple offenses including four counts of indecent liberties with a child, three counts of statutory rape, three counts of statutory sexual offense, second degree rape, second degree sexual offense, first degree rape of a child and first degree sexual offense of a child.
Neighbors watched in disbelief as the ministry leader was led away in handcuffs. One neighbor, Doug Henry, said he could not believe it because Hall is such a gentle man. He went on to say Joe has been a very good neighbor and friend; all he can say is he is shocked.
Another neighbor said she just could not believe what she was seeing and being told about Hall. People in the neighborhood were thinking maybe someone made a mistake; they are having a hard time believing these accusations. Hall and his wife would often have neighbors and family members over to visit and swim in their backyard pool.
A friend of the Hall family said she has known this man since she was born and this does not sound like him at all, he is the sweetest man anyone could ever meet. The woman said,
I do not believe he is responsible for this at all. He would never do such a thing and all of his family and friends including me are supporting him.
Another family friend named Dawn also came to his defense. She said,
I know this man and have known him for 21 years and this is a crime he did not do and the truth will come out. He is my children’s great uncle and has never touched mine or anyone else’s kids. When it comes to the end and he is found innocent of this ‘BS’ the winch that lied better be dealt with because this is sad and wrong on so many levels.

My uncle Joe is a wonderful, Godly & absolutely dear man. We all love & miss him so much. He is the glue that holds our family together. An icon to all of us that truly know him. We depend on him in our lives & even in our deaths. The last month has been so hard on all of our family & friends. I can’t imagine continuing on as a family without him or his prayers & wisdom. He is always seeking God’s will. His love & advise we hold close to our hearts. Many souls will be lost without him, as his closeness to God has won so many lives over to God & the kingdom of heaven. His laughter. I miss his laughter. My heart breaks for him everyday. My daughter & I have cried ourselves to sleep so many nights missing & scared for our beloved uncle Joe & Popi. I wasn’t there & don’t know the details of the crime he’s being accused of, but can honestly say I pray for this young lady & wish nothing but the best for her. If I had the opportunity, I would beg her with my whole heart to please stop this. He is not the man she has described. I don’t know that man! I know my uncle Joe & want him to come home!! Please! I miss him so much. We are lost everyday without him. I’m sorry for her hurt & pain. I pray everyday that she will have peace & healing. But again, I don’t know that man. I do know my uncle Joe & he is not that man! He is a good, honorable, God fearing, sweet, beloved man & is so needed in my life. I love him with my whole heart.
