Freddie Prinze Jr. Almost Quit Acting Because of Kiefer Sutherland

Freddie Prinze Jr. Almost quit acting because of his experience with Kiefer Sutherland. He explained in a recent interview just how unprofessional the 24 actor was, and even shared some of the insights to behind the scenes. One of the problems that the actor had was having to take his shoes off, allegedly because Sutherland did not want to seem so small compared to his six foot frame.

Prinze Jr. spoke about how “terrible” his experience was on the set. This dates back to 2009 and is the first time he has really spoken about this part of his acting career. Some people would question whether the I Know What You Did Last Summer actor was speaking badly because he would be unlikely to meet Sutherland again, but he did state that it would be something he would say to the 24 actor’s face.

The 38-year-old appeared at Comic Con over the weekend because of a new Disney XD series that he is involved in, Star Wars Rebels. It has been the first time he has chosen to speak out about his experience, and admitted that it ended up with him going to work for Vince McMahon, the promoter and CEO of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). The whole experience on 24 really was enough at the time. It was because of Sutherland that Prinze Jr. almost quit acting completely, but he decided to come back after letting the experience go.

When speaking about his experience with the WWE, he admitted that it was fun. He also joked that at least McMahon was tall, so he did not have to take his shoes off for filming.

The news has been a shock for Sutherland and his reps. Arguably the biggest shock is the fact that it has taken five years for the 38-year-old to share his feelings. Prinze Jr. never spoke about these feelings in the past, and has never mentioned them to the actor himself.

Sutherland does not have the same feelings and “enjoyed working with Freddie.” Unlike how some celebrities would act, the 24 actor was gracious and simply wished his former co-star all the best for the future. However, there was no apology for how the She’s All That actor found his time on the set of the TV show.

Both actors were at the San Diego Comic Con but there is no confirmation of whether they met or not. It may have been interesting for fans to see the 38-year-old say everything to Sutherland’s face after all and hear a rebuttal.

The I Know What You Did Last Summer actor did return to acting after his experience. He has made guest appearances on the likes of Bones and Witches of East End. It seems that he has been able to put the experience behind him and find the joy in his job once again. His wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, may have also helped him to move on from the situation. It would have been a sad day for Prinze Jr. fans if he did decide to completely quit acting because of his experience with Sutherland.
