Arnold Schwarzenegger breathes life into his reprisal of the iconic cyborg from the original Terminator movies in Terminator 5, due to hit theaters in July 2015. The movie has received a name change, announced by none other than Arnie, himself, through his Instagram account.

Up until recently, the upcoming Schwarzenegger film was known by the title Terminator: Genesis. Now, however, for whatever reason or combination of reasons, the movie’s official name is TERMINATOR: Genisys, according to Total Film.

The name change was revealed to the world when Arnold Schwarzenegger posted a photo of himself, turned to face away from the camera, on his Instagram account, sitting in a Director’s Chair that had the words TERMINATOR: Genisys on the back of it.

Schwarzenegger included his iconic movie phrase “Hasta la vista, baby,” with the photo and thanked everybody involved in the movie “@TerminatorGenisys for a fantastic shoot,” including the director, the producers, the visual effects people and even the caterer. He also added a comment about making the movie, saying that “it was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding.”

Using another one of his iconic movie lines, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed the release date at the end of his Instagram post. The flesh-covered killing machine wrote “On July 1, 2015, I’ll be back.”

There has already been much speculation by fans of Arnie and the Terminator flicks as to why Schwarzenegger, 67, made the name change. The new spelling signals that the change in the spelling of “Genesis” to “Genisys,” is very important to the entire movie. However, what the name means to the overall thematic structure of the film has not been revealed, as yet.

“Genisys,” many fans theorize, likely refers to the birth of a new system and era, possibly the dawn of the age of the cyborgs. It could refer to the beginning of a systematic, methodical way to look at cyborgs and their new roles in the world order. Possibly, it means the birth of the system of creating life-like robots that are almost human.

The upcoming movie, TERMINATOR: Genisys, is already much-anticipated. To both Arnold Schwarzenegger and fans of the Terminator franchise, “good” will not be good enough.

Schwarzeneggar wants to breathe life back into the cyborg he played in the original Terminator flicks, and prove to the world that he still has acting chops. He wants to continue the action-packed legacy of the franchise and show that, even though he is approaching 70, he should be considered one of the world’s best movie stars. The movie is aiming at having a high impact on fans of the franchise, to lure them in not just to see an aging action-movie actor whose heyday has come and gone, but to see a blockbuster movie that is genuinely thrilling and honors the Terminator legacy.

According to Schwarzeneggar, he wants fans who see TERMINATOR: Genisys to be reminded of “why they fell in love with the Terminator.”

Besides Arnold Schwarzeneggar, TERMINATOR: Genisys will star Matt Smith, Jason Clarke, Douglas Smith, Jai Courtney and Emilia Clarke. There is a lot at stake with the movie and a high standard to live up to, as Schwarzeneggar does not want to disappoint fans of the franchise. If he manages to pull this movie off and it becomes a major blockbuster, if he can breathe life back into the movie cyborg he made famous in the original Terminator franchise, Schwarzeneggar will have solidified his standing. For an entire new generation of fans, as well as older ones, he will be considered one of the most bad-to-the-bone action movie stars who has ever lived.

  1. he just needs to make this movie very raw. pretty dark and just brutal with shocking violence with dark humour in order to get people talking about this. stay away from too much bad one liners and just have super cool tech stuff in it to wow everyone. done.
