J.K. Rowling Appears to Be Expanding the 'Harry Potter' Universe Once More

J. K. Rowling apears to be expanding the Harry Potter universe once more. Devoted fans of the series might recall Celestina Warbeck and her singing in Chapter 16 of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. She was Mrs. Weasley’s favorite singer in the book and one of J.K. Rowling’s favorite minor characters of the entire series.

Now Celestina is getting her very own story from Rowling by way of a short history on the website Pottermore. There is an added bonus, visitors can also listen to Celestina’s hit You Stole My Cauldron But You Can’t Have My Heart, that was motivated by real life singer Shirley Bassey.

Celestina’s name appears only three small times through the entire Potter series. She first showed up in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets when Harry goes to the Burrow, second in “The Half-Blood Prince,” and lastly in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Rowling stated that she took the name of the character from a friend she had worked with some years ago who she had worked with while she was at Amnesty International Headquarters in London.

The brand new story introduced into the wizarding world of Harry Potter came Monday when author J.K. Rowling reintroduced Celestina in a short biography posted to Pottermore.com. Rowling, age 49, had written a 500 word back history about Warbeck. The character was always considered to be a high spirited singer who bears a resemblance to the legendary vocalist Bassey, explained Rowling

J.K. stated that even though no one ever actually sees Celestina throughout any of the entire seven volumes of the Potter books, she always thought the character would look and sound like Bassey.

When she discussed about using her friends name, she declared that the name Celestina was basically begging to be taken and attached to a dazzling witch.

The Pottermore writing comes just after Rowling did another new write-up. It was a 1,500 story that read like an update on the lives of Harry and all his friends as they proceed to live their lives in their early 30’s. It reads like a classic celebrity biography update.

Warbeck was from Gryffindor, exactly like Harry Potter and his buddies, and she had the capability to be able to drown out a choir of banshees. She also has the same half blood background as another celebrated Harry Potter character, Severus Snape.

Celestina’s celebrity story stated that the internationally known singing sensation Celestina Warbeck, who is sometimes known as ‘the Singing Sorceress’, comes from Wales. Her wizard father was a minor bureaucrat who worked in the Muggles Liaison Office. He met her Muggle mother who had been a failed actress, when her mother was attacked by a Lethifold when it was masquerading as a stage curtain.

Rowling also wrote that some of Celestina’s best loved songs included You Charmed the Heart Right Out of Me and A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love.

On the Pottermore site, it is a website that J.K. Rowling aided in developing. It is used as an interactive place for the retelling of her books. People who are interested can find Celestina’s 500 word biography in the Floo Powder room under Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
