Former Boston Mayor Thomas Menino made an announcement this afternoon regarding his cancer treatments and book tour. In a decision he said he reached after consulting with family and doctors, he will be suspending both the treatments and the tour. He stated that he wanted to be able to spend more time with his family, and that this decision would allow him to do so. Menino was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, and was plagued with multiple health issues during the final year of his term as Mayor of Boston. In his statement, he thanked his doctors and the hospitals which have been providing his treatment, saying that despite the suspension of those treatments it was his intention to fight the disease still.
