Michigan Girl Wanted to Kill Family State Prosecutors

A Michigan girl, age 15, was believed to have conspired with her boyfriend to kill her family, prosecutors stated. The plan was to allegedly murder kill her entire family so she could run away with the boyfriend, age 23. She had her first court appearance in a Detroit courtroom on Thursday, where her bail was set at $1 million.

The teenager is being indicted as an adult. Her charges are listed as being assault with intent to murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the attack that happened Friday. She was dressed out in a red jail jumpsuit during the hearing. Her parents also attended the proceedings.

Michael Rivera, the man she allegedly was going to take off with, also is charged with the same accusations as well as a criminal assault charge. He was also given a bond of $1 million on Sunday.

The girl’s parents stated that Rivera was considered her boyfriend and noted that the two were involved in a sexual relationship. The girl and her family are not being named due to the fact that prosecutors stated they could possibly file sex abuse charges against Rivera as well, due to the fact that the teenage girl is a minor.

The Michigan prosecuting attorney explained that the girl reportedly stabbed her younger brother in his throat and then attempted to stab her younger sister. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Prosecutors noted that while the attack was occurring, Rivera was just outside of the girl’s home sending her text messages allegedly telling her what to do.

The teenager’s mother talked to several different news media sources and said that Rivera used her to do her to do the dirty stuff he wanted her to do. The mother explained that she believed her daughter was under some sort of “spell” from Rivera.

The parents stated that they had adopted the teenager and her younger brother and sister from Poland to Michigan when she was 5 years old. She was undergoing treatment for major depression.

Defense lawyer Leslie Posner spoke to the news media and said that the girl and her siblings had come from extremely bad backgrounds.  The three of them were locked inside closets and were severely beaten while in Poland before they came to Michigan.

While in front of the judge, the teenage girl was accused as an adult and given four counts of conspiracy to commit murder, along with one count of intent to murder. The Michigan prosecutor explained that it was extremely rare for the Detroit office to charge a teen as an adult. She stated that the supposed facts in the case strongly merit such a decision.

The alleged activities of the teenage defendant and the co-defendant, the girl wanting to combine with Rivera in order to murder her whole family, are extremely troubling. It is unknown at the present time if Rivera has retained an attorney or not at the present time. Preliminary hearings have been set on Oct. 31 for both the teenager and Rivera.
