Mike Hubbard is the Speaker of the House in Alabama’s Legislature. He is considered one of the most powerful Republicans in the state. He was indicted Monday on 23 counts of felony. Among them are the use of his position for financial gain.
Hubbard is 52 and faces two to 20 years in prison and an additional fine of $30,000 for each count. He is charged with soliciting money and gifts from some of the state’s most prominent and wealthy.
The indictment does not remove him from office.
