Fiji

At approximately 7 pm local time, a powerful earthquake hit  to the Northeast of Ndoi Island, Fiji. The event had a magnitude of 6.9, one of the largest reported anywhere in the world in recent weeks. It struck in the  ocean at a depth of 416 kilometers, strong enough to shake the  islands. No Tsunami warning has been issued in relation to this quake, however. Because of the convergence of the Pacific and Australia plates in this area, it is one of the most active regions seismically in the world.
