Brooklyn Police Shoot Man With Knife


Police went to a Brooklyn house in response to a call to 911 and encountered a man with a knife who, in a conflict with the officers, ended up being shot. The call was at 1230 Hancock Street, located in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn. The initial call to police reported that a woman was being assaulted at that address.

Upon entering the home, reports are that the suspect took a knife and began to cut himself before throwing himself at the officers, threatening with the knife. Sources say that one officer fired one shot, hitting the suspect in the stomach. The man was taken to a local hospital after being subdued. His injuries are not reported to have been life-threatening. None of the officers at the scene received any injuries in the confrontation. No word has been given on the woman reported to have been assaulted in the initial call. It is not known yet if she was in the home, or if police even encountered her.
