The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s (RHOA) NeNe Leakes may feel like a star but is not shining so brightly in her personal life. Apparently the drama witnessed on the show pales in comparison to what is going on in her private life. Reportedly her oldest son was recently arrested and ordered to attend rehab.
This news surfaces after Leakes was challenged by her newest co-star Claudia for the “read” title and was given a run for her money. The star bragged about how much money she has and how many checks she is cashing but it seems while she is out making money her son Bryson is using it for bail and to refuel his habits.
The actress has yet to speak out about her son’s issues and would probably rather have kept them in the dark. However, along with cashing checks comes the awesome responsibility of an “on stage” or public life. Ordinary experiences many can choose to endure in private are not an option for most celebrities. The world had access to the Cinderella performer’s marital demise and restoration, just as they do now to her son’s legal issues and drug abuse.
Reportedly, Bryson is no stranger to legal troubles; he was caught stealing from Wal-Mart, driving with suspended license, marijuana possession and other things. The celebrity’s son was arrested back in 2013 after his Dodge Charger was totaled when he hit two utility poles. According to the police report Bryson was thrown in jail and hit with a DUI after testing positive for a blood alcohol level of .048. This time, he did not remain incarcerated; instead he was sentenced to 30 days house arrest and one year probation.
Last year, the young man refused to pay his court fines, missed four meetings with his probation officer and failed to attend the mandatory DUI classes. He then tested positive for cocaine during a court-ordered drug test and was thrown back in jail for 90 days. Upon his release in November 2014, Bryson was ordered to a mandatory intense six-week rehab stay.
In the midst of his troubles with the law Bryson and Ashley Hill gave birth to a daughter making his mom a proud “Glam’ma.” The fans were hoping the father would turn his life around and be a better example after bringing a life into the world. He did not. Reportedly in 2013 NeNe was given another grandchild. This child, a son, was hidden from the media but alluded to during the family therapy session with Gregg’s children.
In April 2013 Mediatakeout.com reported Ashley and Bryson gave birth to a second child. Brayden Zaier Rashard Bryant was allegedly born at Northside Hospital in Atlanta weighing five pounds and five ounces. According to a close friend of NeNe’s youngest son Brice, Re’nee Edwards:
I know Brice on a personal level and his brother has two kids, a girl and little boy with Ashley Hill. He also has another daughter named Bria Malani Bryant who was born October 9, 2013 with his former girlfriend Marina Robinson. The media does not know of her because she does not want all of the attention.
NeNe has never owned any other grandchildren publicly except her “glam-daughter” Bri’Asia Bryant. Bri’Asia was born in June 2012 and is the girl the star said she always wanted. NeNe has showcased her granddaughter on the RHOA and as well as the star’s former show, The New Normal. The Broadway star revealed that she loves to spoil her “glam-daughter” and goes crazy shopping for glamorous designer items.
When speaking of her co-stars on the Real Housewives of Atlanta NeNe stated how difficult it is to work with the ladies who are jealous of her accomplishments but said she refuses to allow anyone to steal her thunder or take her check. It does not appear that she has anything to worry about in that arena with her son’s behavior; he seems to have no problem interrupting NeNe’s moments of glory with his continued legal issues.
