Amanda Knox Engaged to Old School Friend [Video]

Amanda Knox is engaged to an old school friend who supposedly kept in touch, writing her letters, while she was in prison. The young woman, now 27, served four years in a prison in Italy for the murder of her British housemate, Meredith Kercher, while both were students in the Mediterranean country.

Knox’s fiancé, Colin Sutherland, has allegedly proposed to her earlier this month. The couple met while in middle school in Seattle, but it was only recently that they started a relationship. The couple were seen together last summer, when they were pictured walking in the streets of New York.

Knox moved to New York for a few months, while boyfriend Sutherland was already living in Brooklyn. He studied and graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York.

Sutherland appeared in one of his college theater companies’ postings, in a social media website, as a senior year member. He also appeared performing with his music band in a video posted on a Facebook page, used to highlight work from the students at his college.

Knox is now back to Seattle where she works as a journalist, contributing to the West Seattle Herald, and in a bookstore. The paper, that used to cover the news about her comings and goings with the murder case in which she was involved in Italy, is the same paper that has recently handed over to her a preview of a drama production, and an interview with a theater director. Her husband-to-be is not back in Seattle yet.

The young woman, who has recently been engaged to her old school friend, has confirmed the news of her engagement via an email to a Seattle Times columnist, she met last year for an interview. It was her father who first made the news public. Her now fiancé is said to have plans to travel around the country with his music band, The Johnny Pumps.

Knox and her then-boyfriend, Rafaelle Sollecito, were found guilty of the murder of British student Meredith Kercher back in 2008. After four years in prison, both were cleared of murder and freed. However, in 2014, their acquittal was upturned and currently they are both considered guilty again.

Florence appeals court has recently rejected the theory of Rudy Guede being the only crime perpetrator. Guede, from Ivory Coast, is the only one in prison for the murder of the young British student at the moment. The court has stated that the injuries in the victim’s body were the result of a group attack to humiliate and bully her, rather than the result of one man’s actions.

Amanda Knox has been sentenced to 28 years and six months and has to face trial in March this year. She has already said publicly she will not voluntarily leave her country.

The hearing next month will determine if Italy will try to carry out an extradition, and either send her to prison again or set her free finally. Now that Amanda Knox has got engaged to her old school friend, Colin Sutherland, the young couple will have to deal with a very unusual situation while plans for their wedding take place.
