Bruce Jenner and His New Lifestyle

Bruce Jenner is a man and a legend. He is recognized for his achievements, but being an Olympic champion is by far his biggest accomplishment. Bruce Jenner, winner of the 1976 Olympic decathlon, has chosen a new lifestyle. It is quite a change for the popular athlete, turned actor, turned radio personality, and finally, reality show star. Jenner boasts quite a resumé, and has received a lot of attention after announcing his life-changing decision.

His ex-wife, Lisa Thompson, with whom he has two sons, fully supports his decision and believes he will finally realize happiness after his sex-change operation. Thompson does not regret being married to him, and for many years, both she and his sister knew of his identity crisis. It is just recently that he has come forward, finally telling his mother and 10 children about his decision to change his life. He has also accepted an offer for his own reality show, which will walk with him through his transgender operation journey.

Bruce Jenner confided many personal details of his life and upcoming changes in an interview with Diane Sawyer, stating that he has been battling his desire to be a woman since he was a youth. He also claims his brain thinks more like a woman than a man, and that deep down in his soul, he has always felt like a woman. Bruce has changed physically over the last year-and-a-half, and some of these changes can be seen on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The noticeable changes are hair growth, facial changes from multiple surgeries, his voice and the way he speaks. In addition, for the past year-and-a-half, he has been taking estrogen, the female hormone. At age 65, Bruce is finally fulfilling his life-long dream, he is fixing all the issues that he has struggled with for so long.

Being respected as an athlete is quite an achievement. After recognizing him as a macho-man and strong athlete, his fans are now forced to see the other side of this complicated man. His fans, and his family, will have to accept his decision for what it is. Bruce Jenner is not sure what the future holds for him in terms of more surgeries. It seems he will just live day-by-day and let things happen. He has selected a female name for himself, but is not yet ready to share his choice with the world, which will just have to patiently await any future changes.

The interview with Sawyer has shown a different Bruce to the world, and he has gained support from fans of the reality series. His kids, however, would like him to re-think moving forward with having an operation on a national reality show. They are worried that not everyone will agree or understand his decision, and are afraid their father will be more hurt than happy with his decision to put his private life on TV once again. This is a sensitive matter and an important decision for him and his family. Obviously, with the proven support of his followers, he has shown confidence in coming out with his decision to change his world around. Bruce Jenner will always be remembered as a great athlete, but Bruce Jenner’s lifestyle change will make him also remembered for opening a few doors for transgender people.
