Bristol Palin handled things appropriately when she addressed the “elephant in the room” in a blog post. Palin gave away just enough information to let audiences know that there will be no wedding. She did not disclose why there would be no wedding, or if anything happened between her and her fiance Dakota Meyer. However, what audiences could speculate was that the events that took place were difficult on the Palin family, and were unexpected. In her post, Palin mentioned that “this is a painful time for family and friends.” Sentiments were further deepened when her young son came into the picture. “Tripp and I are in Alaska beginning to rebuild our lives under much difference circumstances than we anticipated.” Her mother, former governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, also announced the wedding cancellation on Facebook.
It was not enough for the 24-year-old to find herself in a spotlight when her mother ran for Vice President of the United States in 2008, and was unsuccessful. The media immediately pried into the girl’s personal business when she became pregnant with a baby out of wedlock. The mother of one had been engaged to Levi Johnston, the father of her son Tripp. However, the two never married. Johnston claims that his former partner wanted to get pregnant because she was angry about her mother having a fifth baby.
It seemingly was still not enough for the former governor’s daughter to have to suffer through the cancellation of her wedding to Meyer; indeed, speculations on why the wedding did not come through are plaguing her family. Meyer had been previously married at the age of 19, and many assumed that upon revelation of this past marriage, the wedding had been called off. Palin clarified that she and Meyer had already discussed past relationships before they were even engaged, and that Meyer had been legally divorced for two years. Therefore, Meyer’s previous marriage was not the reason for the wedding being called off. Meyer served in the Marines for four years, and received the Medal of Honor from President Obama in 2011.
The issue was further stretched out for audiences to see when her friend Marina Lupas shared a Bob Marley quote on Facebook. “The biggest coward is a man who awakens a woman’s love with no intention of loving her.” The quote could have been aimed at anyone, but Lupas is a close friend of Palin’s who went on an RV trip with her during the time that Palin should have been getting married. The general consensus is that the message was aimed at Meyer. Lupas’ accusation gives fans insight to possible reasons as to why the wedding was called off.
The only thing left for fans to wait for now is any further news detailing Bristol Palin’s circumstances. Lupas’ Facebook stunt could be the first of many hints as to why the wedding did not work out. Until then, fans can only hope that the girl finds happiness in her life with her son, and that she can be happily married one day.
