Bribery Charges Against Oklahoma Sheriff May Lead to a 10-Year-Sentence

Carter County Sheriff Milton Anthony is once again in the news. The 65-year-old sheriff was arrested on Wednesday night, June 1, 2016, at 9:30 p.m. CDT, by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) officials on a felony bribery complaint filed against him, according to an OSBI official, while speaking to News9.

Anthony is already undergoing an investigation by the OSBI officials. That investigation began when he was charged on Friday, May 27, 2016, for sexual misconduct. The complaint was filed against him by a woman colleague working at the county jail.

Further details of his arrest have not yet been released, according to the OSBI officials. However, NewsOK and News9 suggest that, if the charges against Anthony are proved, he would face losing his position as the sheriff and he could face up to 10 years of imprisonment.

Anthony was taken to Carter County jail, where he works. He is likely to post a bond in order to pay a $20,000 bail on Wednesday night.

Guardian Liberty Voice will continue to provide updates as they become available.
