On Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at 3:46 p.m. EDT, Reuters made an important revelation in connection with the hacking incident of mobile phones of politicians belonging to the Democratic Party that took place last month. The news agency, in a confirmation received from the investigators belonging to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), reported the role of the Russian government behind the mobile phone hack.

In totality, four political and government sources have confirmed the attempted gadget sabotage, apart from highlighting the role of Russia. In addition, they have clarified that the device sabotage affected only a small number of Democrats, which included elected officials. Further, two sources, as verified by the FBI investigators, reiterated that not only did the foreign hackers belong to the Soviet establishment but they were also the same culprits, who had on an earlier occasion been actively involved in targeting the central data servers of key Democratic Party organizations.

Finally, a third source went on to reveal that the FBI investigators had even advised some political figures whose phones were affected to turn them in for inspection and imaging.
