R&B artist Usher age 40 filed for divorce in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday from his estranged wife Grace Miguel who is 49.
The 8 time Grammy Winner started dating Miguel, who was also his manager in 2009 after he divorced Tameka Foster, his second wife. They secretly got married in September 2015 after a proposal in January. The couple went on a honeymoon in Havana, Cuba.
The couple separated nine months ago in March after the singer was involved with multiple lawsuits claiming Usher spread herpes.
In June 2018, Usher asked a Georgia court to dismiss a lawsuit against him by Laura Helm that alleged he knowingly infected her with the herpes simplex 2 virus. Usher claimed he owed nothing because she knew the risks of unprotected sex.
In a joint statement in People Magazine, they confirmed the break-up, stating that after much thought and consideration they decided to separate. They remain friends and will continue to support each other. They also stated that the enormous amount of love and respect they have for each other will increase as they go into the next phase of their lives.
Paperwork stated that Dec. 24, 2017 as the couple’s separation date. They also reached a confidential settlement agreement.
The duo was last photographed together at a dinner outing in Los Angeles in late June.
The singer is using the same divorce attorney as he used in his last divorce.
It was reported that the Grammy Winner had filed for divorce, but that was not true until now.
Usher has no children with his present wife and has two sons, Naviyd Ely Raymond age 10, and Usher Raymond V, age 11, with his second wife Tameka Foster.
