“Celebrity Big Brother,” the adaptation of the “Big Brother” reality television show, has become a big hit in the United States. On Jan. 13, 2019, CBS announced the second season of the famed TV series.
Just like in the first season, the celebrities will be watched for 24 hours a day during their stay in the Big Brother house. According to CBS, a total of 94 HD cameras and 113 microphones will be used to monitor the activity of the celebrity participants.
The second season episodes will be aired on multiple nights every week. It will run for a total of three full weeks. The two-hour grand finale in which the final winner will be announced will air on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019.
The Cast Of The Second Season
Along with the details of the show, CBS also announced the cast of the second season. There were a lot of rumors on social media regarding the cast. The actual cast announced confirmed some of the rumors. But there were quite a few surprise additions to the Big Brother House. The discredited Olympic swimmer and ex-White House communication director were the surprise additions.
Below is the detailed list of the 12 contestants competing on the second season of “Celebrity Big Brother:”
- Anthony Scaramucci (former White House communications director, aged 55)
- Joey Lawrence (actor, aged 42)
- Kato Kaelin (actor, aged 59)
- Ricky Williams (NFL star, aged 41)
- Diana Lohan (momager, aged 59)
- Jonathan Bennett (actor, aged 42)
- Tamar Braxton (singer aged 41)
- Lolo Jones (Olympian, aged 36)
- Tom Green (comedian, aged 47)
- Kani Burruss (singer, aged 42)
- Natalie Eva Marie (former WWE star, aged 34)
- Ryan Lochte (Olympian, aged 34)
Apart from the disgraced Olympian swimmer, Ryan Lochte, another Olympian Lolo Jones, and former WWE star Natalie Eva Marie are the surprise additions to the cast of this season.
After Omarosa Manigault Newman, Scaramucci will be the second employee who worked in the Donald Trump’s presidency to be part of the Celebrity Big Brother show.
Host for the Second Season
The second season of “Celebrity Big Brother” will be hosted by Julie Chen. Julie Chen hosted the original series since its debut in the year 2000. She had earlier left other CBS shows like “The Talk” following the firing of her husband and former CEO of CBS, Les Moonves over allegations of sexual misconduct. However, she decided to stay on as the host of “Celebrity Big Brother.”
Await More Controversies
The 12 contestants will be competing for prize money of $250,000, which is donated to a charity that the winner has chosen.
The inclusion of contestants like Scaramucci and the wife of a disgraced CEO as the host in the show is sure to generate controversies. Hopefully, a controversy will result in more eyeballs following the show.
The second season will premiere on Monday, Jan. 21 2019, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
