The live event is called “Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations from Times Square,” which will focus on how the guests have shifted the conversation and caused an impact in their fields of politics, entertainment, and culture in 2018.
This is an extension of “Oprah’s SuperSoul Sunday” which featured interviews with Oprah and top spiritual leaders, authors, visionaries and top thinkers. They would discuss different themes such as personal fulfillment, happiness, and conscious living.
O’Rourke was thrown into the spotlight as a new Democratic rising star when he ran against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). What’s more, his campaign topped all Democratic fundraising records.
Even though his campaign failed to get him a seat in the Senate, O’Rourke’s campaign garnered him the support of President Barack Obama. Something similar occurred in 2007 when Winfrey endorsed Obama, it gave his campaign a boost in the primaries.
The talk started circulating about a possible 2010 presidential run, and a group of Democratic activists were going to start a petition to motivate him to run.
Despite O’Rourke losing a very close Senate race, he remained center stage. On Thursday, Jan. 10 he Instagrammed his trip to the dentist. While he was in the dental chair, he discussed the southern border. All major news stations covered it. Before considering a 2020 presidential run, O’rourke is considering the idea of visiting a number of colleges so that he can share his vision of America with students.
Another strategy O’rourke plans to use is live video. One in particular featured him driving while eating chips and guacamole and building an igloo with his wife and children.
The Oprah interview will be O’Rourke’s first public appearance since leaving Congress earlier this month.
Many have speculated that Oprah herself was considering running for president in 2020. She actively campaigned for Stacey Abrams (D) who was running for governor in Georgia and was asked if she was going to run. Winfrey stated an empathetic no.
