CNBC is reporting that Former White House chief strategist and the CEO of the Donald Trump Campaign Steve Bannon is the high-ranking Trump official who is unidentified in the indictment by Robert Mueller relating to Roger Stone.
The indictment released on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, states that in October 2016 a campaign official reached out to Stone. This was a month before Trump was elected.
The unidentified campaign official asked Stone about items “Organization 1” would be releasing in the future. The organization is Julian Assange and Wikileaks.
According to an unnamed source, Bannon is the unidentified campaign official mentioned in the indictment. This individual also stated Bannon spoke about the exchange with Stone to the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Special Council.
This person added that Bannon has spoken with Mueller’s team, along with the Senate Intelligence Committee, about the exchange.
Legal Council for Stone and Bannon refused to comment to CNBC, as well as the special counsel’s office and the Senate Intelligence Committee.
