Beverley Owen who is best known for her part on Season 1 of the 1960s television show “The Munsters” died on Feb. 21, 2019 from ovarian cancer. She was 81 years old.
Butch Patrick who played Eddie Monster and is now 65 years old wrote on his Facebook on Feb. 24:
Beverley Owen has left us. She had such a sweet soul, and I had a massive crush on her. RIP and thank you for the 13 episodes you filmed as Marilyn Munster.
Polly Stone, Owen’s daughter, spoke with TMZ and told them Owen died at her Vermont home surrounded by family and friends. Stone said her mother was diagnosed with cancer in Jan. 2017 and did not tell the public.
Owen only filmed 13 episodes of the popular series, leaving to marry Jon Stone. Stone is an Emmy Award-winning director and producer who was one of the creators of “Sesame Street.” Stone was responsible for creating Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch. Pat Priest replaced Owen and remained for the conclusion of the series.
Owen’s marriage to Stone lasted from 1967 to 1974 and ended in divorce. Stone died at age 65 in 1997 from Lou Gehrig’s disease. They have two daughters.
