Murders and shootings in Chicago have dropped from February 2018, as reported by Chicago police. The 23 murders pronounced in February changed into a 40 percent decline from the previous years of 2017 and 2016. The police pointed out this out in a meeting on Thursday Date. As of now in 2019, 44 murders were recorded in Chicago, which is less than half of the combined total from January and February 2018, police pointed noted. The number of shootings were numbered in at 214, showing a slight reduction in less than a quarter.

Shootings are down seven percent from the previous year. The Sun-Times has counted forty seven homicides this year, so far in 2019. “Released information for February provides robust evidence that the Chicago Police Department is on the right path. CPD’s mixed approach of adding manpower and new know-how along with doubling down on building neighborhood partnerships is alive,” according to police Superintendent Eddie Johnson.

In the meantime, over 1,600 unlawful guns were confiscated by officers in 2019, police pointed out. Tha is  a minor enhancement from 2018. Other crimes, such as robberies, burglaries, and car thefts, were at a nearly 20-year low, police noted.

All the way through February, 95 additional CPD officers have been deployed onto the streets, most of them on the South and West sides, police stated. New centers decked out with residention protection-digicam video feeds and gunshot-apprehension programs additionally debuted within the 20th and 22nd police districts.
