James Correll Suthann Abused Service Dog and Her Tail Required Amputation

SuthannJames Corell Suthann, a 37-year-old dog groomer from Florida was arrested after abusing a veteran’s service dog named TT, breaking his tail which later required amputation.

In a Facebook Post by Sheriff Wayne Ivey of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Florida wrote in capital letters:

IF YOU HURT AN ANIMAL IN BREVARD COUNTY I WILL PERSONALLY WALK YOU INTO OUR JAIL AND SLAM THE DOOR BEHIND YOU!

He continued by writing that both himself and Chief Jeff Pearson from the Satellite Beach Police Department walked Suthann personally into the Brevard County Jail due to the horrific cruelty acts he inflicted on a service dog.

It is alleged that while working a dog grooming salon, Suthann became enraged when TT, an 8-year-old German Shepard Service Dog would not stand while being groomed.

The entire act was caught on video which showed Suthann cinch the dog’s head down so tightly that the dog was in pain and could not move.

Later on in the video, Suthann can be seen grabbing the tail of the dog and completely lifting him off the ground. The tail twisted 360 degrees and was broken so severely doctors could not reattach it.

Suthann was also seen beating the dog on his head with the nozzle from the hose he was bathing him with.

Ivey said the video was so graphic he would not post it, and it was one of the hardest things he had ever seen in his 39 years as a police officer.

TT is the Service Dog of a disabled veteran who suffers from PTSD. The owner was inconsolable by cruelty against his beloved companion.

TT required emergency surgery to amputate her tail entirely and is recuperating.

Suthann was arrested and was brought to the Brevard County’s Sheriff’s Office booked on one count of Felony Cruelty to Animals. He posted the $2,000 bail and was released.

Ivy stressed that the owners of the Dog Grooming Facility did not think Suthann was capable of hurting a dog. After learning about the incident, they immediately fired him and banned him from the facility.
