
Born Ermias Davidson Asghedom, was better known to his fans as Nipsey Hussle, whose album “Victory Lap” released in 2018 was nominated in February 2019 at the Grammy Awards.
Hussle was shot and killed outside his clothing store in Los Angeles on March 31. He was only 33 years old.
The rapper broke into the mainstream in 2018 and was a huge NBA fan, and was friends with Isaiah Thomas, the Nuggets guard. Stephen Curry, the guard for the Warriors interviewed the rapper in July 2018 for his YouTube series “5 Minutes From Home.”
TMZ reported that it appears to be a gang-related killing.
Tributes from around the world started to pour in. MSNBC interrupted their regularly scheduled programming to announce the sad news.
Celebrities took immediately to Twitter.
Isaiah Thomas tweeted: Damn!! Say it is not so. Not Hussle
LeBron James tweeted: So Sad! Damn this hurts.
Tobias Harris tweeted: I can not believe this. Hussle was more than a rapper. He moved people.
Rihanna tweeted: This does not make sense. My spirit is shaken. RIP.
Chance The Rapper tweeted: RIP Nipsey. It is tragic.
Drake tweeted: You were real. Nobody talked down your name.
