Tania Mallet, a well-known model, and best known for her role as Bond girl in the 1964 film Goldfinger died on March 30, 2019. She was 77-years-old. No details have been given regarding the cause of death.
The official Twitter account of James Bond confirmed on May 31, 2019, her death by tweeting: “We are sorry to have learned Tania Mallet who was in the movie “Goldfinger” playing Tilly Masterson has died. We send our thoughts and prayers to her friends and family during this difficult time.
Born on May 19, 1941, in Blackpool, Mallet is the cousin of actress Dame Helen Mirren, an Academy Award winner.
At the age of 16, she attended the highly respectable Lucy Clayton’s School of Modeling and became a successful model.
Mallet entered the Bond world auditioning for the role of Tatiana Romanova, a Bond girl, in the movie “From Russia With Love.”
Despite Mallet being Russian, she was not given the part of Tatiana. However, she did land the role of Tilly Masterson in the third Bond film “Goldfinger” with Sean Connery in the title role.
Mallett continued to model, appear on talk shows, and multiple James Bond specials.
In 1976, her last role was on televisions “The New Avengers.” She continued modeling regularly, saying she felt more comfortable in that career.
