After Bill Cosby has been behind bars for seven months for sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, he agreed to settle the lawsuits filed by seven women who said, Cosby, defamed them when he said they lied about having sexual encounters with them.
Paperwork filed in the Springfield, Massachusetts federal court on April 5, 2019, show Cosby has negotiated with the alleged victims a settlement. There were no details about the case revealed.
Attorney Joseph Cammarata wrote in a statement that the plaintiff’s claims filed against the defendant William H. Cosby, Jr. have all been settled. Each Plaintiff has stated that they are satisfied with the agreed upon settlement.
81-year-old Cosy is serving in a maximum-security prison a sentence for three-to-ten years. It is unknown if Cosby will drop all claims against those who filed the suit. The report said one of the women named in the lawsuit has since died.
In March Cosby tried to have the case Chloe Goins filed against him dismissed. Goins alleged in 2008, Cosby raped her while he was at a party at the Playboy mansion.
A federal judge in Massachusetts will still need to hear the case and approve the settlement.
