Burger King announced on April 1, 2019, that they would taste testing a brand new burger called Impossible Whoppers.
The vegetarian Whoppers will have patties that are plant-based and will come from Impossible Foods, a startup company. The new product will be rolled out in St. Louis in 59 different locations.
If the Impossible Whopper does will, Burger King will add it to their menu nationally.
President of Burger King North America, Chris Finazzo, said Burger King hopes the Impossible Whopper will give the person who wants to consume a burger daily, and does not to eat meat every day, gives them an opportunity to come to Burger King on a more frequent basis.
He also added that the Impossible Whopper now gives those who follow a vegetarian and vegan diet the opportunity to eat at Burger King.
Finazzo said the hamburger chain for a year has been talking about adding a burger that was plant based to the menu. He said recently, and people have been interested in plant-based burgers.
Eating less meat or going meatless has benefits to one’s health. The Impossible has fewer calorie than the beef Whopper, has no trans fats and is low in cholesterol.
The Impossible Whopper is made to taste like a regular Whopper. Unlike a typical veggie burger, the Impossible patties are designed to have the texture and look like meat after it is cooked. The company revealed a recipe made to taste and look like real meat, and that is what will be used in the Impossible Whopper.
The Impossible Whopper will cost $1 more than a regular Whopper.
