Jeff Graves, a Madison County Deputy was placed on administrative leave after he posted on his Facebook page a homophobic comment about Nigel Shelby, a gay teenager who committed suicide.
Graves wrote that he was “seriously offended” by the LGBT movement, and gay people in response to a Facebook post made by WZDX-TV regarding the death of Alabama’s Huntsville High School freshman Nigel Shelby who was 15, who committed suicide.
Nigel killed himself after being bullied for being gay his mother Camika Shelby said.
Deputy Graves also made fun of the LGBT community in a Facebook comment by saying “Liberty Guns Bible Trump. That is my kind of LGBT movement” WAFF an affiliate of NBC reported.
NBC News reported the Madison County Sheriff’s office received multiple complaints regarding a Facebook post allegedly made by one of their deputies.
A spokesperson for the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said that the sheriff’s office holds all who are employed by them with the highest standards and the public should know a complete and thorough audit will be immediately conducted, and the appropriate actions at the end of the investigation will be enforced.
Graves did not respond to a request from NBC for comment.
Kentucky restaurant Belle’s Smokin’ BBQ recently was called out for redefining LGBT and selling T-shirts with the homophobic saying: “I support LGBT: Liberty, Guns, Bible, Trump.”
