Hussle

On Thursday, a memorial service for Nipsey Hussle is being held at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California. The service started at 10 a.m. and scheduled to end at noon.  On March 31, Mr. Hussle passed away from a gunshot wound 35 minutes after being shot in the head. The incident occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. near the front of his store.

The 33-year-old rapper was allegedly shot by a man named Eric Ronald Holder Jr., who escaped in a getaway car just moments after shooting the rapper.

On April 2, two days after the incident occurred, Holder was found and arrested. He has since been charged with two counts of attempted murder, and one count of murder.

During his arraignment, held April 4, a count of possession of a firearm by a felon was added to his list of charges. Holder plead not guilty to all counts.

After losing Mr. Hussle, both his family and the music world were distraught. His partner, Lauren London, has expressed her heartbreak through social media. On April 2, she posted on Instagram “I’ve lost my best friend. My sanctuary. My protector. My soul….I’m lost without you. We are lost without you babe. I have no words.”

Many rappers have also expressed their pain about the loss of Mr. Hussle. They have been very open about their feelings, especially during the ongoing memorial. Stevie Wonder stated, “It is a heartbreak to again lose a member of our family. It is a heartbreak because it is so unnecessary.” Mr. Wonder was not the only one who had something to say about Hussle. Many other artists, including rapper YG and Snoop Dogg spoke out about Nipsey.

Snoop stated, “For God so loved the world that he gave us a good Crip, the late great neighborhood Nip. Rest in peace cuz.” Many of Hussle’s family members also spoke about him at his memorial. The memorial is still ongoing and will be followed by a processional.
